Jackie McGregor (she/her)

Jackie McGregor

Background

My name is Jackie McGregor and I am an Intern Counsellor at Avery Therapy Centre.  I hold a Bachelor of Human Kinetics degree from UBC, and I am pursuing a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.  I have always been passionate about helping people heal and break through their barriers, which initially led me to become a personal trainer and holistic nutritionist. Through years of consulting people on their physical health, I discovered that no matter the area of life we are looking to change and grow, our blocks are rooted in mental and emotional patterns that keep us stuck. This led me to become a life and intuitive coach, and now transition into counselling, where I believe I can make the biggest impact.

Through my own journey and struggles in health, I have been led to pursue alternative modes of healing such as mindfulness, yoga, breathwork, energy healing, among other various modalities that have made me a well-rounded practitioner. I believe that in order to heal, we must look at our whole selves, not just what we see and experience on the surface. This passion led me to become a partner at Ritual Urban Retreat, where you can participate in deeper healing practices and movement classes on a regular basis.

I currently spend most of my time on the north shore with my family and raising my two-year-old son. In my free time I love being active and adventurous, and you can find me kayaking, hiking, travelling, or doing various movement classes around Vancouver.

Therapeutic Approach

My approach is primarily person-centered, which values the individual as the expert of their own life. My role is to help facilitate, guide and collaborate with you, so that you feel confident and empowered to reach your goals.  In the beginning, we will get clear on the elements of your life that both foster and hinder your growth, and work together to build a customized plan.  I use an integrated therapeutic approach pulling from the most relevant treatment interventions that best suit my client’s needs. The theories I draw most from are internal family systems, somatic and mindfulness approaches, narrative therapy and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy).

I strive to create a safe, non-judgemental and open space for you to show up fully as you are. My approach is caring, genuine and supportive, while creating an environment for you to heal, discover and connect with the deepest parts of yourself.  In doing so, we will look through the lenses of curiosity and compassion to foster a strong and secure relationship within. This process will leave you feeling seen, heard and connected to what is most important to you (your values), while feeling empowered to speak your truth and pursue your deepest desires and needs.
