Lily Rogers
Background
Hello! My name is Lily Rogers (she/her) and I am honoured to be a Registered Clinical Counsellor at Avery Therapy Centre. I hold a Master’s of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to holding space for the stories of others and have been deeply curious about how people move through life’s joys and challenges. My career path has been anything but linear, but I always had a deep knowing that I would end up working in this space. Ultimately, it was my own experience with healing following a cancer diagnosis that led me to committing to this current path, and I feel incredibly grateful for that gift of insight. Through my schooling, I have learned that being present with others in a safe and supportive space is an incredibly rare and beautiful opportunity that I am thankful to step into every day.
Ongoing personal growth is very important to me. Since 2018 I’ve worked as a personal development coach following my schooling with Integral Coaching Canada. This experience and the clients I have worked with have shaped who I am today. I also worked in the tech industry for 8 years in various leadership roles and learned a lot about myself, my boundaries, and how to truly take care of myself. Outside of work, I love to meditate, bike, and spend time in nature, and I also love to cook, listen to records, and watch TV. I believe that we all contain multitudes and that moving toward our most authentic self is a worthy and fulfilling undertaking.
Therapeutic Approach
My practice is grounded in person-centred therapy, meaning I believe we all have the capacity for growth when provided with the right conditions. I’m here to create those conditions in partnership with you in a way that is trauma-informed, culturally-responsive, and deeply caring. While I may not have walked the same path as you, I am here to bear witness to your unique journey through life.
During our time together, we will use tools from narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, internal family systems, and emotionally-focused therapy. Your treatment goals and objectives will be top of mind through our work together. My goal is for you to walk away feeling heard, understood, believed, and hopeful.

“I can’t say that everything happens for a reason, that there’s a purpose in injustice or suffering. But I can say that pain, hardship, and suffering are the gift that helps us grow and learn and become who we are meant to be.” ― Edith Eger
